Great News!

So my husband just called to let me know some really great news. Our house hold goods have arrived here, and we can have them delivered now. I can't believe they are already here. They are about 2 1/2 weeks earlier than they said, and about a month late. Let me explain.

When we got orders to Germany, my husband had the choice to have our stuff packed up early March and stored while he went to school. We did this so I could move back up to Kansas with the kids and be closer to family and friends. They packed it all up, and they put it in Non-temporary Storage. When we were ready to have the stuff released and shipped, we would have to go into a post and fill out the paperwork. Then it would take about a week for the release to happen. No biggie...Fast forward from March to August.

My husband gets home from school, and we go into Ft Riley to talk to them about getting everything taken care of. We get the paperwork filled out, and she faxes it to them. We were told in a week, it would be good to go. Two weeks go by and nothing. So we go back in, and this time we see someone who deals with this all the time. So she fills it all out, and then she tells us that she or someone in Texas will call us when it all hits. About 4 hours later, we got the call. Everything should be good to go. WRONG!

We get to Germany, and my husband is doing all his paperwork. We still are not in the system! It has now been a month since we started with the first round of paperwork, and we still aren't any closer than when we started. We got on the phone in a hurry, and my husband was less than pleased about it all. Finally they decided that they would do the paperwork right, and our stuff would be on the way in a day or two (funny how you don't need a week when someone is mad). It did end up taking about 2 weeks for us to hit the system and our stuff be picked up.

Long story short, we got our advance shipment last week, and now it looks like we will get our other stuff very soon. Oh I cannot wait for my king sized bed to arrive. How wonderful it is going to be to sleep in bed and not have to touch my husband :p I will have all my pillows back and can curl up in my cocoon (as my husband so lovingly calls it), and rest well. I guess we had better get on our painting this weekend (unless they bring it before then).
